I'm trying to get X3D content with hAnim animation to work both in Opera, Firefox and IE.
Note: the following content is experimental, intended for seasoned testers.
These days it's common to have several vrml/x3d browsers installed. This often creates frustrating conflicts and unexpected results.
NEW: H-anim now also seems to work in Bitmanagement's Contact VRML browser, both in wrl and x3d.
Test it in wrl
Test it in X3D
- Here is the uncompressed drunk viking (~ 207K)on aFoto wrapped in html employing the OBJECT tag. I expect this only works in IE. If you don't have Flux installed it should prompt you to make the installation with the usual contorted security warnings. If you have a deprecated version of Flux installed it should prompt you to update.
- But the Flux browser now also works in Opera and Firefox as a traditional plugin (oh GLEE!).
This adds the EMBED tag as an alternative to the activeX OBJECT implementation. I'm curious to learn for whom it works, and for whom it does not.
- Opera tends to crash when OBJECT is mixed with EMBED for X3D. This uses EMBED only
- This is the uncompressed file: rag.x3d. You may be able to open it directly, or it may hang/crash your browser. You may download it, read thrugh it, and see if you can get it to work in your favorite Web3D explorer. No, I haven't really validated this drunk warrior yet against the x3d specs, nor in any of the java browsers.
- And this one is compressed (~67K): ragnar.x3d.
Would you let me know how this works for you? Please send your comments to da {at} afoto.com
-And don't forget to have fun.
